POWERLESS

At War
June 25, 2025The United States officially launched airstrikes on three Iranian nuclear sites: Fordow, Natanz, and Isfahan: marking one of the most dangerous escalations in recent memory. This was not just another Middle East flare-up. It was a deliberate pivot from diplomacy to destruction, and it risks war and global unraveling.
Let’s be clear: while Iran’s nuclear ambitions are serious, this attack was not a defensive necessity. It was an imperial gamble; a show of dominance dressed up as national security. And here’s the scary truth: it was avoidable.
A War of Choice, Not Necessity
The Trump administration (who campaigned on the tacit promise to keep our nation out of war) claims the strikes were meant to prevent Iran from building a bomb. But what they’re not saying is that a diplomatic solution was already working.
The 2015 nuclear deal (JCPOA) drastically limited Iran’s program. Enrichment was capped, stockpiles slashed, and international inspections enforced. It extended Iran’s “breakout time” to over a year, without a single shot fired.
Trump killed that deal in 2018, and enrichment resumed. But just last week, Iran had returned to talks with European diplomats, even pausing 60% enrichment. A new framework was in sight.
Remember these words and hope that there is never cause to repeat them.
This attack didn’t stop a bomb.
It bombed the process that was stopping the bomb.
Rather than wait for peace to materialize, America struck first. We’ve become a “hit first—seek clarity later” kind of nation. We don’t lead with intelligence, we lead with force. In this case, farce.
Lawless and Morally Bankrupt
There was no Iranian attack. No UN mandate. No imminent threat. This strike violated international law, full stop.
Morally, it’s just as indefensible. Iran’s facilities are near cities. Civilian casualties are likely. And we’ve now shattered trust with a country that, however complicated and corrupt, was still talking.
This wasn’t self-defense.
It was dominance. We didn’t act like a superpower. We acted like a bully.
Fallout: Predictable and Catastrophic
Regional War
Iran has already retaliated. Hezbollah and Iraqi militias are mobilizing. U.S. forces across the region are on alert. This is no longer theoretical. It has begun.
Oil Shock & Global Recession
The Strait of Hormuz is vulnerable. Oil prices could spike, triggering inflation and recession across the globe.
Collapse of Diplomacy
What leader would trust the U.S. again? We tore up one deal, then bombed while another was forming. American credibility is in shreds.
Rise in Extremism
Every civilian casualty becomes a new recruit for extremists. Just as Iraq gave birth to ISIS, this may spark the next generation of militants.
Nuclear Domino Effect
The global message is clear: diplomacy gets you bombed. Deterrence is survival. Expect nuclear programs to accelerate in North Korea, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, and beyond.
Why We Did This
This wasn’t just about Iran.
It was about muscle. Legacy. Ego. Empire.
America’s influence is fading, and rather than adapt, we lash out. Trump’s policies at home are failing. Nothing unites a nation and helps us forget our failings, like a common enemy.
We still call ourselves defenders of peace, but we undermine the very agreements that preserve it. We speak of values, then act without principle. And we wonder why the world no longer believes us.
Bombing Diplomacy
We didn’t just bomb Iran, we bombed the future of diplomacy. We burned a bridge that was still standing, and now we stand on the edge of war by choice, not necessity.
This wasn’t strength. It was desperation dressed as resolve.
It will be remembered not as the day we stopped a bomb, but as the day we proved that American power no longer seeks peace; it seeks obedience.
And in doing so, we made the world far more dangerous, and ourselves far less trusted.
