We arrived in Semarang Indonesia today. We’ve explored this area before, so Terri decided to stay on board the ship for the day.
I walked to the taxi stand and rather uncharacteristically, hopped on the back of a scooter. I can tell you with some certainty that the people of Semarang were not ready to see a 6’2, 230 lb white man riding on the back of a scooter today. At almost every stoplight, people took out their phones and took photos. I obliged them with a smile every time.
My driver took me around the city, stopping at a local spa for a $20 massage and recommending a very cool seafood restaurant for an incredible garlic butter lobster lunch before dropping me back off at the ship…safe and sound.
I’ve spent most of my life driving the car. Sometimes you need to see the world as a passenger from the back of a scooter.
